Katrina S. Rogers, PhD, is the President of Fielding Graduate University.

Katrina joined us on the podcast to chat about the book, Democracy, Civic Engagement, and Citizenship in Higher Education: Reclaiming Our Civic Purpose.

The book was published in 2019 by Lexington Press, was edited by Katrina and William Flores, and includes the writings of more than 20 college and university presidents.

The Introduction: Higher Education Responds to the New Crisis in Democracy, was written by Katrina S. Rogers and William V. Flores.

SECTION 1: RISING TO THE CHALLENGE, CH 3 - Technology, Inequality, and Globalization: Considerations for Leaders in a Democratic Society, was written by Katrina Rogers.

In this episode, Katrina discusses the mission that colleges and universities have in educating the public on how to serve our democracy and strengthen democratic practices that embrace critical thinking, dialog, and civic engagement. Even while our 21st-century workforce needs, is skewed towards the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM), there still remains a need to educate people so that they are prepared to participate in the governing in our communities and beyond.
