Victoria Murray: Owner, InBox Virtual Assistants - Episode 1024

Howard Fox:                     Welcome everybody to the Success Insight podcast, for my co-host. This is Howard Fox and I want to welcome you on this beautiful first week after the July 4th weekend, and I'm very excited to introduce you to a young lady that I met, actually via one of my close friends and fellow coaches here in the Chicago area. We were talking about what it takes to run a business, and for us, solo entrepreneurs out there, at sometimes can be a little bit of a challenge because there are only so many hours in the day and there's only so many limbs we have that we can type and answer the phone, and we started to talk a little bit about the world of the virtual assistant. And my good friend Amanda, where she was chatting about, she and her husband who run their entrepreneurial practice in financial services were talking to me about their move to Ohio, and how they will most likely be in the need of a virtual assistant out there, and Amanda said you really got to talk to this woman. She really does some amazing things and so who am I to bypass a great opportunity to have a conversation? So I would love to introduce to you to Victoria Murray, she's the owner of Inbox Virtual Assistants. Victoria, welcome to the Success Insight podcast.

Victoria Murray:               Thank you. Thank you.

Howard Fox:                      So Amanda just had glowing things to say about you and I think you probably know each other somewhat virtually at this point. You probably not really doing any work just yet, but you know the virtual assistant world is, it's not unfamiliar to me, but I know there's a lot to it, so I would love to hear a little bit about your story. Tell our audience what're doing?

Victoria Murray:               Thank you. Thank you. First of all, thank you for inviting me to come on. I did meet Amanda virtually. It was love at first sound byte.

Victoria Murray:               She called me, we chatted, and now I feel like we've known each other forever. I am a virtual assistant. I call myself Act Two. I'm in the second act of my life. I worked in the health insurance industry for over 20 years and the opportunity came for me to separate from the company. And when the door opened, I grabbed my box and I ran, and I have not looked back. I knew that I was too young to totally retire, and I needed to do something because, well, I have bad habits, I like to shop. I like to travel, and I like to make money. So I had to think of what can I do, because, I do not want to go back to Corporate America. I had been released, I was free, I was not going back to a cube farm. I just couldn’t do it.

Jim Moran: President of SimplifyISO - Episode 1023

Howard Fox:       Hello everybody. This is Howard Fox for my cohost Randy Ford. This is the Success Insight podcast. I hope you are having a great start to your week and I am very happy to have back on the Success Insight podcast, Jim Moran. Jim is the president and founder of SimplifyISO.com. In fact, Jim was one of our first guests on a Success Insight podcast. And Jim, welcome to the podcast looking forward to chatting with you today about a subject that you know, I think it's certainly near and dear to my heart, but I was actually curious through your expertise in the ISO environment, the ISO space, how the topic of leadership apply. So thank you for agreeing to come back on and chat with us today.

Jim Moran:         Well, thanks for inviting me, Howard. As you know, my connection with ISO goes back to 1992 and it's when you use the term near and dear to your heart, it's probably, it's been the main focus of my entire career for the last number of years and continues to be. It keeps growing more new standards committed every day to help organizations manage themselves better. And the interesting thing about this topic of leadership, when you look at ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45000, well I better tell what they are. When you look at ISO 9001 - the quality standard, ISO 14001 - the environmental standard, ISO 45001 - the health and safety standard, ISO 50001 - the Energy Standard, and ISO 27001 - the information security standard. Every single one of those standards, Howard has leadership in the dead center of the diagram explaining what the standards are, how the standard is put together. So leadership is honestly, the foundation that all of these standards are based on.

Howard Fox:       You know, it's interesting as you kind of went right through that list, and also, as your evolution into the, I think it's safe to say it. You're an expert and ISO and these international standards and it's good to be an expert. What does leadership mean in the world of ISO standards, ISO certifications? What does it mean?

Jim Moran:         Well, that's a huge question but I'll do the best I can that in order to get ISO for those listeners who aren't ISO certified and the organization has to put together, what's called a management system and then get a certified to it. In order to get certified, a third party comes in and audits them against the requirements of the standards I just mentioned. But as far as leadership goes, leadership is responsible for planning and guides, at least leadership should be guiding the planning. And that's a whole separate section called, its no surprise, planning, and leadership also helps determine what the organization will have available for it in terms of resources, which is a whole another section, section seven, it's called support, actually, that includes a infrastructure people, work environment, so on. But in order for an organization, you get certified, leaders have to demonstrate leadership and commitment.

He's been in the insurance and investment business. He's owned retail, wholesale repair manufacturing. He's been a Vice-President of Victory Pipe Craftsmen. He's co-started and became the publisher and president, president.

Howard Fox:                      He co-started and became the publisher and President of a series of community newspapers, official publications of the local chambers of Commerce on Chicago's North Shore. I met Elliot because he is the master connector with several thousands of contacts, and he began to turn those contacts into connection opportunities, for the people who have come into his life through a variety of organizations and venues. And I'll tell you, he is truly the master connector. So without further ado, I want to introduce you to Elliot Silber. Elliot, welcome to the Success Insight podcast.

Elliot Silber:                       Thank you, Howard.

As I was doing the introduction here, I was thinking about the reason why I thought I would love to have you on the show is just that networking in this day and age where there's so much angst in how we live, what we do, where we do it, and Networking is such an important part of staying connected to people, and what you're doing with the folks and these groups is so very powerful.

I'd love to learn more about you, how you got started and how you got into planning, executing and promoting this idea of networking. Just really, the demonstrate the effect that you're having on other people's lives. So let's start with your story. Tell us a little bit more about yourself.

Chris Johnson:                 Thank you. Thank you for that. I'm very grateful that you and I had a chance to meet a couple months ago. I don't even know how you even got introduced to the group. I mean was there somebody that you knew?
